Photo of the day!

Wendy Whelan and Jock Soto

Photo of the day!!! Todays ballet is Jerome Robbins "In The Night". The beautiful ballet is set to four nocturnes by Chopin. There are three couples who each performs a pas de deux and they all come together at the end. The last part is my absolute favorite!! It's so pretty!!

Janie Taylor and Benjamin Millipied in Rubies

Photo(s) of the day!!! I think the new title should be ballet of the day!! Here we have a few different photos from the Rubies section of Balanchine's Jewels. Rubies is probably my favorite section because it so much fun!!(But then again, Emeralds just has something about it!) The beautiful costumes are by Karinska and the music for this section is Stravinsky. I just bought the music and it's so great!!
What NYCB has to say about it-
And the recent NY Times article-

Photo of the day! NYCB in Jerome Robbins' "Glass Pieces". I've seen parts of this ballet and it's pretty great!! The music by Philip Glass is fantastic, especially in the pas de deux. The ending is so repetitive and energetic! Here is a link to the video section of NYCB's website where you can find a video (Under the NYCB Dancers category) of NYCB soloist Adrian Danchig-Waring and corps member Georgina Pazcougin talking about it-

And a clip of NYCB performing it (This is the pas de deux I was talking about!)-
